About the event

La Bohème is by far one of the most popular, beloved and regularly performed operas in the repertoire. With its story of love, jealousy and the unforgiving realities of life, La Bohème has been “successfully” breaking audience’s hearts for over 100 years since its premiere in 1896. The reason lies no doubt in Giacomo Puccini’s masterful understanding of universal human emotions and the way these are perfectly captured in every single sweeping musical line and every unforgettable melody. This story of a motley band of bohemian artists with gigantic dreams and minuscule possessions (and in particular the love-story of the poet Rodolfo and the seamstress Mimì) are sure to enchant Innibos audiences.

This production of La Bohème boasts an incredible international cast with soprano Celeste Morales and tenor Glenn Seven Allen from New York, as well as the talented local baritones Solly Motaung and Conroy Scott, and Annemarie Steenkamp, soprano.

The well known soprano and director Magdalene Minnaar is creating this production, with award-winning Portuguese pianist José Dias leading the production from the piano. Audiences can look forward to a magical and unique musical experience at Innibos, with the special addition of the Mbombela-based choir Sempre Vino.
